I'll Be Back

I'm moving house this week and probably won't be posting for a while. Depends on how long the fuckhead internet providers take to connect up my new place. Maximum life suckage!

Locrian - Rain of Ashes Cassette

Another cassette from Locrian, this one was released last year by Fan Death Records and limited to 200 copies. The A-side is a 30 minute live piece and the B-side is the same track in reverse.

Thou - Kingdoms Box Set

Very happy to get my hands on one of these. This is a triple cassette box set collecting the early work of Thou from 2007 - 2008. A very impressive package that includes 3 pro printed cassettes in silk screened cases, a 32 page booklet, patch, sticker, button and a potion bottle all housed in a black silk screened box on a bed of moss. A lot of work must have gone into this as besides the tapes, everything seems to be DIY handmade. Which is why it was limited to only 300 copies I guess. Released last year (2009) by Peasant Magik and Drugged Conscience.

Locrian - Drenched Lands Cassette

Locrian are a band I've only recently discovered, thanks to Franks Blog for the tip off. They sound like a mix of tons of different genres without perfectly fitting into any. I guess you'd say they're a drone / noise / ambient / doom / experimental / black metal band haha. This is the cassette version of their first full length that was put out by Small Doses and limited to 100 copies. Amazing stuff and very original packaging. I'd like to get my hands on some other Locrian releases but they're a very prolific band and most of it is in very limited quantities.

Mindless - Human Conditioning 7"

I'd already picked up the cassette version of this a couple of months back, this is the same songs with different cover art and on vinyl format. Up there as one of the best 7" releases so far this year. Absolute hate filled negative power violence destruction. It's one of those records you just keep flipping over and over again as it's short and highly addictive. You can listen to some tracks on their myspace and buy it from RSR or the usual US distros.

Get Destroyed - S/T 7" (Limited Sleeve)

I love this record so much that I had to have a second copy. This is the limited screened sleeve that Dangerously Small Records did for their copies of the 7". It was co-released by a few labels just like their second 7" was. I just wish Get Destroyed had stayed around for a while longer, both 7"s were flawless and it would have been good to hear what they'd have come up with for a long player.

Thou - To Carry A Stone 7"

Another Thou record for the ever growing collection. This one was released in 2008 by Noxious Noize! Records and limited to 500 copies. According to discogs my copy is the yellow vinyl with black sleeve limited to 370. Nice handmade booklet style sleeve with silver ink. As I've said before, one of the best modern sludge/doom bands around. Their entire discography can be downloaded for free from their website. An Australian tour for 2011 is in the works!

Mind Eraser / Slang - Split 7"

This split was made for the recent Mind Eraser / Slang tour. When I first heard about this I thought it was going to be a costly one to get a hold of as I obviously couldn't make it to the shows. Luckily there was some left over from the tour for sale at RevHq, which are still available but I wouldn't snooze. Stoked to hear some new Mind Eraser tracks as the wait for the Brutal Supremacy comp is killing me.

Bookburner - S/T 7"

I bought this 7" with a bunch of other records as postage is bullshit and adding a few extra to the cart usually makes an order more worthwhile. I'd never checked this band out before but liked everything I'd heard on 16OH and recognized the artwork from Feeding who has done work for Iron Lung, Walls and Pig Heart Transplant among others. So off to a good start there and I figure it's not going to suck. Put it for a spin on the turntable today and fuck did it blow me away. Now I just feel stupid for not listening to it sooner, I think this has been out for a while now. Killer power violence with excellent production and there's a noise track on here that's not too far off what Pig Heart Transplant sound like. If this band has anymore releases out there can someone let me know. I can't find any info on the internerd and want to hear more.
