Best albums of 2009

I know it's a bit late to be posting a best of 2009 list but I've been too lazy to do it till now. So here it is in no particular order, though I must say that Dinosaur Jr - Farm is album of the year for me.

Dinosaur Jr - Farm
Not only is it album of the year it's also best cover art of the year. Up there with the best of the Dinosaur Jr catalog. Can't wait to see them in March!

Iron Age - The Sleeping Eye
I was a bit late getting into this and then one day while watering the lawn I put it on my ipod and was blown away. The neighbors must have thought I was a bit strange as I headbanged along while playing hose guitar.

Converge - Axe To Fall
The first time I played this on my turntable I thought it was playing on the wrong speed until a changed it  and realized it was just a fucking fast intro.

Mammoth Grinder - Extinction Of Humanity
I must have clicked on the Cyclopean Records webstore a couple of times a day for months until the pre order for this went up. When it finally arrived I was not disappointed.

Hatred Surge - Deconstruct
The thing I like most about this band is the dual male and female vocals. Austin, Texas has so many good bands that will probably never make it to Australia. I'm tempted to go there just to see them.

Cult Ritual - Self Titled LP
This is noisy hardcore that has more in common with bands like Sonic Youth than Youth of Today. Luckily I like Sonic Youth.

Pissed Jeans - King Of Jeans
I kept seeing this album in the record stores and not picking it up because I thought it was Kings Of Leon. I really need to pay more attention cause when I finally heard it I kicked myself for not getting it sooner.

Wolves In The Throne Room - Black Cascade
This album is so heavy, and I don't mean just the music. My weak arms were sore after carrying this home from the record store. As with most Southern Lord releases it's double super heavy weight vinyl with a inner sleeve and inner inner sleeve in a gatefold sleeve that's about as thick as a record mailer. They're touring Australia in February but not coming to the always ignored Western Australia so I'll be missing out.

Municipal Waste - Massive Aggressive
Probably not their best record but still worth a listen. Municipal Waste are a fun band and always get me in a good mood when I spin their stuff.

Iron Lung / Walls / Pig Heart Transplant - Public Humiliation
I've already posted about this record but wanted to mention it again. 3 great bands powers combined, it's like Power Violence Rangers!

Sarah Blasko - As Day Follows Night
This is Sarah's 3rd album but the first to get released on vinyl. I wish the first 2 would get some vinyl releases too. Went to one of her shows last year and as always it was a great performance. Everyone I know was too hardcore to go so I took my mum. It was a nice change from the other shows I went to last year.
